Design a platform for active job seekers, simplifying the job search process by offering tools for personalized application creation, organized data management, and streamlined communication.
Problem Statement & Context
Active job seekers struggle with creating personalized application materials, maintaining organized application data, and efficiently managing communication records during the job search process. This leads to feelings of tiring and inefficiency, hindering their ability to effectively navigate and succeed in their job search. Additionally, the lack of streamlined tools forces them to juggle multiple platforms and software, further complicating their efforts.
The 4-Week Design Process

During user interviews, several pain points emerged that informed the development of 'Crafted'. Users expressed a strong need for a more streamlined process to manage and track job applications, from initial exploration to personalized submissions. They often felt overwhelmed by the volume of applications and sought tools to prioritize quality over quantity. Personalizing applications and conducting company research were particularly daunting tasks. Despite these challenges, users remained optimistic about finding fulfilling roles and valued advice from peers and mentors throughout their job search journey.

Low Fidelity Prototypes​
The low fidelity prototypes of Crafted were thoroughly tested with users from the initial research phase. User testing of Crafted's low fidelity prototypes provided crucial feedback for refining the platform. Users valued the job profile organization and AI integration for editing resumes and cover letters. Key improvements included adding a 'Generate' text option, editable bullet points in quick add, clearer naming conventions, and enhanced dashboard labeling.

VISUAL LANGUAGE
Crafted’s visual language is designed to create a calm and user-friendly experience, easing the stress of the job application process. The interface features a soothing palette of blues, rounded corners, and smooth animations to keep the design clean and minimal.
Inspired by platforms like Notion, Evernote, Trello, and Asana, Crafted focuses on simplicity and clarity, helping users stay organized and motivated throughout their job search journey.

INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPE
Dashboard
Provides a clear overview of applications, daily tasks, and upcoming deadlines, all in an easily accessible layout
Tracker
Categorizes applications into Saved, Applied, Interviews, Offered, and Rejected, allowing users to filter, sort, and search while displaying essential job details in concise job cards
Job Profile
Provides a centralized hub to manage detailed job applications, including job titles, company details, and extracted keywords for personalized application materials
Users can also track important dates and red flags set for each application, ensuring comprehensive management in one place
Resume & Cover Letter Workspaces
These workspaces provide robust editing tools with a top toolbar for text adjustments and a quick toolbar for generating and paraphrasing content, checking word count, and fixing grammar/spelling errors.
The Assist Panel on the right allows users to highlight job-specific keywords, request feedback and view comments, chat with an AI for guidance, and easily add experiences or projects to the resume.
Experience Crafted in Action!
Working on Crafted during the Google UX Design certification was a transformative experience. This project took me through the full UX design process: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. It was interesting to see the similarities with my past strategy design projects, while also noticing the differences, such as the focus on wireframes and prototypes. This was my first individual UX project, where I handled everything from user interviews and user flows to visual style, design system, and interactive prototype. The biggest challenge was prioritizing tasks within the project's timeline, but continuous user feedback helped guide my decisions. I also enjoyed learning Figma hands-on, which made the experience even more rewarding. Crafted was more than just a project—it was a key step in my UX design journey, enhancing my skills and deepening my passion for user-centered design.
